asian beauty: lip mask review

I had seen these funny lip masks on youtube so I thought I would buy some on my recent trip to Japan.  There were several "flavors" - honey, herb, lemon, fruit, etc.  I decided to try the "honey" one since I love all things honey.  The instructions were all in Japanese but it seemed pretty self-explanatory:

• open package
• peel jelly mask in the shape of big lips off the plastic sheeting and 
• put on clean lips for 5 - 30 minutes

 So how was the lip mask?

First off, I was a bit disappointed that I didn't smell or taste any honey.  I only kept the funny lip thing on for about 10 minutes and afterwards, my lips did feel somewhat moisturized and sort of smoother.  But I didn't feel any amazing effects in the short term or in the long term.  

So all in all, I think this is really more of a fun gimmick.  I can imagine using this with my girlfriends during a spa outing or just for laughs.  However, if you really do suffer from dry lips, this probably won't do much for you.  Instead, I'd recommend using Nuxe Reve de Miel Balm or the Christian Dior Creme de Rose.  I like to apply the Nuxe balm every night before bed because it's a little thicker and the CD balm every morning before applying makeup.

Based on the pictures in the instructions, you can apparently use the lip masks on your nipples too.  But I can't imagine I will be needing that...
